Frequently asked

Before you write to us.

The questions we hear most often — and the direct answers. If yours is not here, the enquiry form above is the right place to start.

Is the initial consultation charged?

+
Your first consultation with Nisabetu is offered at no charge and carries no obligation. We use the session to understand your matter, check for any conflicts of interest, and give you an honest assessment of how we can help. If we are not the right fit, we will say so and refer you to a firm we trust.

How does Nisabetu structure its fees?

+
Most engagements are billed on an hourly basis, but we offer fixed-fee arrangements for clearly defined matters such as contract reviews and standard employment agreements. Every instruction begins with a written fee estimate so you always know where you stand before work commences.

Do you advise on both civil and Shariah matters?

+
Yes. Nisabetu practises across Malaysia’s civil courts and, through our dedicated Shariah practice, before the Syariah courts in the Federal Territories and selected states. Both teams operate under the same roof and can advise where a matter touches both jurisdictions simultaneously.

Which states do you cover?

+
Our solicitors are admitted to practise throughout Peninsular Malaysia. We regularly handle matters in the Federal Territories, Selangor, Johor, Penang and Perak, and engage local counsel in Sabah and Sarawak where required. Cross-border employment and commercial matters involving Singapore are handled in cooperation with verified Singapore-admitted partners.

How quickly can substantive work begin?

+
For most new instructions, we complete the conflict check and return our engagement letter within 24 hours of the initial consultation. Urgent matters — including industrial court deadlines and injunction applications — should be flagged clearly in your enquiry so we can prioritise accordingly.
